Job Description

  1. Identify the goals of the organisation in the long, short and medium term
  2. Convene a Board of Directors with specialist skills in different departments
  3. Work alongside the Board of Directors to create a strategy
  4. Identify the challenges which the company faces
  5. Work with Directors to determine new opportunities in the marketplace and devise ways to take advantage
  6. Have an overall understanding of the operating environment and how changing conditions may affect the business
  7. Set budgets for the relevant departments for the trading year
  8. Communicate regularly with shareholders and the chairman
  9. Get to know any key stakeholder relationships such as auditing and banking partners
  10. Understand any finance facilities
  11. Engage staff from the outset and keep clear lines of regular communication
  12. Set aside time to manage director and departmental reviews
  13. Monitor staff engagement, turnover and culture
  14. Review pay structure and reward schemes
  15. Undertake thorough analysis of performance criteria
  16. Review technology use within the company
  17. Work alongside technology teams to introduce new technology
  18. Conduct analysis of all costs to ensure that the company is lean
  19. Undertake a holistic review of the organisation to identify key business units and excess
  20. Summarise all findings to of any review to report back to the Board
  21. Identify own personal development programme
  22. Set time aside to maintain work/life balance
  23. Recruit a coach or mentor to help assist through the daily challenges of the role
  24. Undertake media training in order to manage external communications
  25. Address community stakeholders when necessary
  26. Seek opportunities to work alongside marketing to identify new customers
  27. Utilise personal profile in order to help grow the brand and marketing opportunities
  28. Get to know all key compliance issues which the company may face
  29. Ensure the company’s important taxation relationships are up to date
  30. Be aware of any impending legal issues the organisation may be facing
  31. To ensure that the directors are properly informed and the sufficient information is provided to the board to enable to director to from appropriate judgments
