Western Sydney University has expanded its international scholarship program for 2027, and the change matters for Nepali students in a specific way: the awards are multi-year. Instead of a one-off discount in first year, an eligible student receives support in every year of the degree, applied straight to tuition fees.
This guide breaks down what is on offer, who qualifies automatically, which programs are excluded, and how the scholarship interacts with your application timeline.
For 2026 intakes, Western Sydney University's standard international undergraduate and Postgraduate scholarship sat at $6,000 or $3,000 per year, capped at three years. For 2027, that has been raised to $10,000 or $5,000 AUD per year, applied for the full duration of the degree as set out in the offer letter.
Three things are worth noting:
Newly commencing bachelor students are assessed for a multi-year partial tuition scholarship of $5,000 or $10,000 per year, depending on academic performance.
| Item | Detail |
| Value | $5,000 or $10,000 AUD per year |
| Duration | Full duration of the degree, as stated in the offer letter |
| How applied | Credited to tuition; typically from the second semester |
| Application | Automatic assessment at the time of application |
| Exception | Bachelor of Nursing is eligible for the $5,000 per year award only |
To be considered you must be commencing a new program of study in 2027 for the first time, be applying to a CRICOS-registered undergraduate and postgraduate degree, satisfy the academic eligibility requirements for the relevant award, and accept your offer of admission. Students who defer commencement, or who are granted more than 160 credit points of advanced standing, are not eligible.
Postgraduate coursework applicants are assessed for a $10,000 or $5,000 per year multi-year partial scholarship, again applied to tuition fees for the duration of the degree as outlined in the offer letter.
The admissions team applies the award when your application is received, and it is disbursed each year — which means the support arrives at the point in the year when the next fee instalment is due, rather than only at enrolment.
Awards are granted on a first-come, first-served basis until the allocation for the session is filled. Applying early in the intake cycle genuinely matters.
This is the part most students miss. Eight postgraduate programs carry an automatic $10,000 per year multi-year scholarship with no GPA threshold attached. Applicants simply need to qualify for entry to the degree.
For a student whose academic record sits in the middle band — strong enough for entry but not competitive for a merit award — these eight programs are worth serious consideration. Over a two-year Masters, $10,000 per year is a $20,000 reduction in tuition.
International Alumni Scholarship: Western Sydney University graduates returning for a second coursework degree are considered for $10,000 per year towards tuition — up to three years for an undergraduate program, up to two years for a postgraduate program, based on prior academic achievement.
A partial tuition scholarship reduces your tuition bill. It does not reduce the financial capacity evidence you need for your student visa application. Plan your budget around the full picture:
Weigh these costs alongside the scholarship value before you finalize your decision to study in Australia in 2027.
There is no separate scholarship application. The steps are:
Western Sydney University is a public university with campuses across Greater Western Sydney, including Parramatta City, Bankstown City, Liverpool City, Campbelltown, Penrith, Hawkesbury and Rydalmere. Its Bankstown City and Parramatta City vertical campuses place students inside working commercial precincts rather than on an isolated suburban site.
